Finally a New Release!

And this one is so gorgeous you definitely don’t want to miss it!!

I saw these 2 really awesome layouts made by my cousin, both of her daughter’s birthday celebration.  So I asked her if I could make a couple templates from those layouts, and she said yes!!!  I was so stoked!  But then I went without internet, and I’ve been so busy getting Get Digi With It running smoothly since the take-over, that I hadn’t had a chance to do them.  Well, finally I buckled down and did it! It only took a speed scrap to encourage it (Thanks Mel!) and I totally love the way they turned out!

So here is the “Celebration Doubles” two-page template pack.  It comes in 3 file types: .psd, .tif, and .png.  The layered file types also come in 24x12 version and 12x12 versions.  You can get it in the store for 40% off right now too!!!

I did this layout with one of these templates the other day.  Boy was it fun to scrap with!  and these photos have been needing a layout for a while now! lol

Ain’t it cute?!  So get to the store and grab this while the gettin’s good at 40% off!

OH AND DON’T FORGET!

The weekly speed scrap is going on tonight at 10pm EST!  This time it is going to be hosted by Vanessa from ViVa Artistry!  We’ve been getting a lot of new participants in our speed scraps so they’re a great way to make new friends, have fun, and get a layout done while you’re at it!  Trust me, you’ll be coming back time and time again!  Check it out in this forum!

see ya later!

Hey everyone !

Hope everyone is enjoying their week!!! I am hear again to tell you about our Speed Scrap over at Get Digi With It this past Saturday evening! It ROCKED! After a bit of internet hiatus (unwanted, I am sure), Maria was back and boy it was so great! We had wonderful conversation, humor and lots of snacks!!

Just want to share a few of the layouts we created for this challenge--- speed scrapping really forces me to get out of my 'normal' scrap style!!! Sometimes I really need that!

Here are two examples of layouts done with the exact same instructions!

First is 2 cute 4 words by Danimoy: She used Duchess' Chillaxin Mini kit Next is Best Present by me :) and I used Twas the Night Before Christmas for mine :)This is a great time for me to promote the new look of Get Digi With It. Maria has revamped everything and has given the site a new look and it is amazing. You really have to check it out!

Happy New Year!!

It's a new year & Get Digi With It! is under new management!! That's right, Maria the Duchess has taken the head spot! I can't wait to see all the exciting things Maria has in store for us over there! If you haven't done so, check it out! There a fun new challenges posted, brand new designers in the store, a weekly Speed Scrap and other great changes coming soon!

Speaking of something new...I bring to you the first challenge of the new year! We all know the new year is about reflecting on the past year & starting fresh. It's the perfect time for making resolutions, setting goals, and working on personal improvement. So, your challenge is to create a layout (or other type of project) that documents your resolutions or goals for the year. Getting them in writing is the first step to making them a reality!

Because it's the new year, I'm feeling generous! Everyone who participates will receive a prize! Plus, one winner will be chosen to receive an additional surprise! Be sure to post your layout in the Duchess Designs gallery at GDWI, then post the link to your layout in the comments to this post by midnight Jan 15 to be eligible for the prizes.

So, here are my goals/resolutions:
1. Get more sleep!
2. Drink more water, less diet soda.
3. Spend more time playing with DS. He's only little once, and not for much longer *eyes tearing up*
4. Cut back on my binging and snacking! I've been eating horribly lately and need to reign it in! I hope to lose 10 lbs in the process and get some breathing room back in my work pants!
5. Keep a cleaner/tidier house.

We'll see how well I stick with it! Wish me luck and will power!

And for those of you making resolutions, here are some tips and links to help you keep them!
1. Be realistic: The surest way to fall short of your goal is to make your goal unattainable. Strive for a goal that is attainable, such as cutting back on bad foods instead of cutting them out all together.
2. Plan ahead: Think about what you want to attain and make a strategy to do it. Change doesn't happen overnight, nor can you make a hasty resolution.
3. Outline your plan: Decide how you will deal with the temptation to skip that exercise class or have one more cigarette. This could include calling on a friend for help, practicing positive thinking and self-talk, or reminding yourself how your bad habit affects you.
4. Make a "pro" and "con" list: It may help to see a list of items on paper to keep your motivation strong. Develop this list over time, and ask others to contribute to it. Keep your list with you and refer to it when you need help keeping your resolve.
5. Talk about it: Don't keep your resolution a secret. Tell friends and family members who will be there to support your resolve to change yourself for the better or improve your health. The best case scenario is to find yourself a buddy who shares your New Year's resolution and motivate each other.
6. Reward yourself: This doesn't mean that you can eat an entire box of chocolates if your resolution is to diet. Instead, celebrate your success by treating yourself to something that you enjoy that does not contradict your resolution. If you've been sticking to your promise to eat better, for example, perhaps your reward could be going to a movie with a friend.
7. Track your progress: Keep track of each small success you make toward reaching your larger goal. Short-term goals are easier to keep, and small accomplishments will help keep you motivated. Instead of focusing on losing 30 pounds, say, focus on losing that first 5. Keeping a food diary or a symptom journal may help you stay on track.
8. Don't beat yourself up: Obsessing over the occasional slip won't help you achieve your goal. Do the best you can each day, and take each day one at a time.
9. Stick to it: Experts say it takes about 21 days for a new activity, such as exercising, to become a habit, and 6 months for it to become part of your personality. Your new healthful habits will become second-nature in no time.
10. Keep trying: If your resolution has totally run out of steam by mid-February, don't despair. Start over again! There's no reason you can't make a "New Year's resolution" any time of year.

Here's a link for more detailed info:
Stages of Change - How to Keep a Resolution

I plan to make my layout of my resolutions Saturday night at the GDWI Speed Scrap! Hope to see you there! Good luck!

Hump Day!

Well, I just spent the past two days at a conference for work. It was good, but I'm glad to be back home. But, tonight we're off to our last gymnastics class of the session, the house is...let's just say a little messy during my absence, laundry has piled up, the fridge is looking bare...well, you get the picture!

I know we all have those days where our to-do list seems a mile long, and we certainly don't think we can squeeze in scrapping! But, as I have learned and was reminded of during my conference, we must take time to refresh, renew, to sharpen the saw (as Stephen Covey would say), or the blade just gets dull and doesn't work very well. And if you're thinking you are too short on time this time of the year, consider joining us for the weekly Speed Scrap at Get Digi With It! It's a great way to have some fun with the girls, chat about food, get a layout done, and take a little time for yourself! I can't remember who first said it, but it is so true: If Mom ain't happy, ain't nobody happy! So do it for yourself & your family! I hope to see you Saturday at 10 pm ET!

News, News, and... well... News

Well, it's just after 8am here and I'm trying to get everything done this morning that I need to. I had hoped I could get up early and scrap my VERY last page I need to for Elliott's first year book which is going to be 50 pages! but that will have to wait til later.

You see... I have a JOB interview today! It really was lucky I guess because I've been meaning to go to the daycare behind our house for quite some time to apply for a job but with dh's work schedule and me being with the little guy, it hasn't happened.... until yesterday. I went over there, and they weren't even taking applications. So I came back home and opened the phone book to "child care". The very first listing I called said they were hiring, quickly, for a couple of positions. I happened to be talking to the boss who said they had interviews set up for today and if I would be able to come too! (Did I say they wanted to hire quickly or what?!) So I'm ultra excited! This daycare center is one of the most reputable in town and has 4 locations. So wish me luck!

Then, this morning I got up and checked out a layout I posted yesterday to see my comments, and my cousin's wife had commented on it! Now here's the story on that...

My dh first got me interested in digiscsrapping by buying me a magazine last Dec on it. At the time, I was interested but I only knew about CDs you could get at Michael's (which, if you've seen them, you know they're a bit outdated). 2 Weeks later I saw Janel at our Family Christmas and she opened me up to the world of DigiScrapping online! It was amazing and never looked back! (Thank you Janel!!!) But, after all this time of meddling around online, I never knew my cousin's wife's screenname anywhere nor did I ever see a layout I recognized or anything. 10 Months!!! Can you beleive it?! so this morning after reading her comment I was FINALLY able to browse her gallery and look upon her daughter (who, by the way, is growing way too fast!) whom I haven't seen since last Christmas. Yay for me!

By the way, the first website Janel ever gave me was to Blue Flombingo, Karah Fredrick's personal store.

Alright, now I suppose I better get to some business too.. lol. The last bit of news I wanted to tell you is about Get Digi With It.

Our First Annual Halloween Party is starting to wrap up. The last challenge will be posted today and on Halloween, we will know who the winners are! The layouts are SO incredibly cute and so you should definitely check them out! You can find the gallery here! I tell you, our members are SO creative and inventive, the keep me rolling on the floor!

The GDWI Speed Scrap I host has been growing like a weed! our first week, we had 5 people show, and this past Saturday, there was 17!! They are so fun and addicting and I hope you come join us and help that number keep getting bigger! You can find our speed scraps here on Saturday Nights at 10pm EST. Don't miss it!

And finally, there are LOTS of digibits being earned at GDWI, which, if you don't know, are points that earn you gift certificates to the store! You earn them by completing challenges, winning Feature of the Week, and posting more times than the Posting Diva! Find out more about the DigiBits at GDWI here.

And one of the challenges we have is a template challenge hosted by Amy of the Creative Team there. This month she made 2-page templates for us both times! Here's the template currently for the challenge.

The deadline to submit this challenge is October 31st and it earns you 4 DigiBits. Click the image above to be taken to the challenge thread!

National Cardmaking Day

Did you know that October 4th is National Cardmaking Day? I didn't either! well, My creative team manager had to tell me so, so I guess she knew it was. and probably a handful of you did know too.

Well I decided to make some card templates in honor of National Cardmaking Day! It'll be my perfect excuse to get some Christmas cards made.... or the slew of birthday cards I always have to send out at the end of the year.... lol

k, just so you understand this end of the year birthday rush I have, let me enlighten you... ;) First off, my birthday is Dec. 28th. Not a biggie though because I don't have to make a card for myself... then, my nephew was born on Dec 30th. 3 years later my son was due on Christmas day but ended up coming on Jan 3rd, and he shares the birthday with my cousin who shares the birthday with his girlfriend. now, 2 years later, we're expectig yet another Nephew on or around December 28th... and if you'll remember, that's my birthday. Now THAT'S a lot of birthdays! It makes me exhausted just thinking about it!!!

Now to get back to this whole Greeting Card business....

Here's a pack that has JUST been released right this morning! How's that for hot off the press?! And for today and tomorrow ONLY they will be just $1.99! Take a look:

And, just for you my faithful blog readers, I've made an extra card for you to have for free! This is a 4"x6" greeting card perfect for any occasion! (Click the image to download)

So be off, and spend today making a card for someone special on this National Cardmaking Day! (Hey does anyone want to make a birthday card for me???)
